TrooFoodz exists because the everyday grain aisle stopped making sense to us.
Somewhere along the way, the flour, the noodles and the sevai that Indian kitchens run on quietly became products of refinement rather than agriculture. Maida replaced grain. Shelf life replaced freshness. And a set of millets that had fed the subcontinent for four thousand years was reclassified as animal feed.
We started TrooFoodz to put a small, careful selection of those grains back within reach — in the formats people actually cook with on a Tuesday night.
What we do, plainly
We are a curated food brand. We do not own a farm, we do not run a mill, and we do not manufacture what we sell. We find producers who are doing something genuinely difficult and doing it well, and we bring their work to your kitchen under our name and our standards.
Every product in this range is built on sprouted grain. The grain is cleaned, dehulled, soaked and germinated before it is dried and milled — a slower, more expensive process than simply grinding a dry grain, and one that changes both how the flour behaves and how the finished food eats.
What we look for
A short ingredient list. Most of our vermicelli has exactly two ingredients: a sprouted grain and RO-treated water. Our instant noodle cake has three. If something needs a paragraph of additives to hold together, we are not interested in it.
No maida. Not in the noodles, not in the pasta, not anywhere. This is a harder constraint than it sounds — refined wheat is what makes pasta behave — and it is why some of our pasta breaks in the pot. We would rather explain that than add the filler.
Named varieties. Not just ragi, but surruttai ragi. Not just foxtail millet, but maapillai thinai. When a producer can tell us the variety, it usually means they know the farmer.
What we will not do
We will not tell you that a grain cures anything. Millets are good food — high in fibre, mineral-dense, slow to digest. That is a genuinely useful thing for a flour to be, and it does not need to be inflated into medicine.
You will not find disease claims on this site. You will find ingredient lists, nutrition panels transcribed from the pack, honest notes about what each product does badly, and cooking instructions that actually work.
That is the whole proposition. Better grain, described accurately, delivered to your door.
