Ragi (Finger Millet)
Sprouted Ragi Rava
Coarse sprouted ragi. Holds its grain in upma.
Ragi that has been cleaned, dehulled, soaked and sprouted, then solar-dried, gently roasted in an uruli and coarsely ground. Roasted once more before packing.
A coarse grain rather than a flour, which is exactly what you want for upma — it drinks water without turning to paste, and holds separate grains in the pan.
Also good for idli, dosa and kesari.
Ingredients
Sprouted whole ragi, coarsely ground.
How to use
Use as you would any rava — upma, idli, dosa or kesari.
For upma, dry-roast briefly, then add to boiling water in a 1:2 ratio and cook covered until the grains soften.
How it is made
Cleaned, dehulled, soaked and sprouted, then solar-dried and gently roasted in an uruli before coarse grinding. Roasted again to reduce moisture before packing.
